What’s the difference between a playhouse and a Wendy house?

They’re essentially the same. Both offer a child-sized space for imaginative play. 'Wendy house' is a traditional British term, while 'playhouse' is more commonly used today. We stock both classic and modern designs.

Can I paint a playhouse?

Do I need planning permission for a playhouse?

In most cases, you don’t need planning permission for a playhouse in the UK, especially if it’s a standard-sized garden structure. To stay within permitted development rights, ensure the playhouse:

• Is no taller than 2.5m (if within 2m of your boundary)
• Doesn’t include a raised platform over 30cm
• Isn’t used as a dwelling or for business
• Is placed on domestic land (not in front of your home)

Different rules may apply if your property is listed or in a designated area (like a conservation area). Always check with your local planning authority before installation to be sure.
